Welcome to the official website of Becky Frederick, PhD—writer, U.S. Air Force veteran, healthcare professional, and lifelong student of life. 

Becky has spent much of her life pursuing the next goal, serving others, raising a family, building a career, and collecting a few hard-earned lessons along the way. After earning her PhD, she returned to one of her first loves: writing.

Her work explores womanhood, spirituality, relationships, identity, and the complicated space between becoming successful and becoming fulfilled. Now in her 40s, Becky is embracing a new chapter—one that is less about checking the next box and more about experiencing, questioning, creating, and occasionally figuring things out as she goes.

Her debut book, Gone Again, was published in 2019. Today, she is expanding her work through personal essays, poetry, memoir, and new literary projects that explore not only what it takes to build a meaningful life, but what it costs.

There is the life we plan, the life we build, and the life that happens somewhere in between.

This is where Becky writes about all three—and sometimes imagines something entirely different.

Through short stories, reflections, poetry, and memoir, she explores the subjects that become more complicated—not less—as we get older: ambition, faith, love, motherhood, success, solitude, identity, and the courage to change your mind about what you thought you wanted.

Some pieces offer perspective. Others ask questions. Some are drawn from life, while others are simply stories waiting to be told.

What does it really cost to become the woman you once dreamed of being?

Becky is currently writing The Cost: What It Takes to Be a Successful Woman, an exploration of the price that often accompanies ambition. Beyond degrees, titles, salaries, and accomplishments are quieter expenses rarely included in our definitions of success: time, health, relationships, motherhood, peace, opportunity, and joy.

The Cost does not argue that ambition is too expensive. It asks a more interesting question: What are you willing to pay—and who gets to decide whether it was worth it?

Part memoir, part reflection, and grounded in the experiences of a woman who has spent much of her life striving for more, The Cost examines success without glorifying it or apologizing for wanting it.
